Putting the books away!

Tomorrow is my last day of teaching until September!

This is bad because if I don't work, I don't get paid. But this is SO good, because I can put the books away, even pack them in a box and I don't have to look at them again for 2 whole months!!
We'll finally be able to reclaim our dining table, as that's where most of my stuff lies.

It's been a really busy year, I did 3 lessons a week at Laila's school, teaching the 8-11 year olds. This was so much fun, not very well paid, and tons of preparation needed! Most evenings and weekends are spent planning my lessons and preparing the materials. So it will be a true break from all of that.
I can't wait to start again in September, I have tons of ideas, lots of materials I can re-use and a new class to teach who keep telling me they can't wait to start English next year! I'll certainly miss my CM2 class who will have gone off to secondary school, but I hope I'll see them again.

I think it was around December time last year that I started teaching Professional English to Telecom Engineers and stopped doing the Conversation classes. I became fully qualified in February after 3 months training from my boss, I already had my TEFL but had no previous teaching experience, hence the training. So the pay is now good, I really enjoy the lessons, but sometimes the planning is hard work. Some things are very technical, for example I had to research the Large Hadron Collider recently for a lesson! But I learn so much from my students, and they seem very happy with what they learn from me!

I'm reducing my hours there for September, so I will just have 3 students instead of my current 5.
The reason for this being that Max will be starting school!!! He will just go for 4 mornings a week to start with, so I'm adapting my hours around him. Our childminder is moving away and there's no point finding a new one just to pick him up from school when I can do it anyway.
As he increases his time at school I can increase my work hours. I'm in a great situation really and feel lucky to be able to do it this way. I never planned to become a teacher, but I'm happy with what I do and I see great results!
