change of teacher...

Laila didn't go to school on Monday as we'd had a very tiring weekend away with a very late night after a party on the Saturday (midnight bedtime for Laila!). So we stayed at home Monday to rest!
When I picked her up from school on Tuesday lunchtime (she's still only doing half days), she had her "cahier" in her hands. Now those of you who did French at school that's a test for you, can you remember what a "cahier" is?!!!

In it was a note from her Maitresse Evelyne saying she would be going into hospital from the 25th to the 30th, but that she would be replaced during this time. I read it quickly, didn't feel the need to ask the teacher any questions so we went home. When I read it again at home, I realised it said from 25th November to 30th January 2011!!! And as there's no school on Wednesdays, that was the last time I saw the teacher until she comes back in February. I was quite upset and worried about how this might affect Laila. She is just now really settled into school, talks about a lot of the children in her class as her friends and loves her teacher.
However Laila seemed aware that Maitresse Evelyne was ill and there would be a new Maitresse, so at least she had explained it all to them.
So Thursday morning was the new Maitress Sylvie's first day, apparently she had been in on Tuesday to meet them all. It was almost like the first day of school again with several of the children crying, they obviously hadn't all realised that Maitresse Evelyne really wouldn't be there.
Laila was hesitant but fine and went off to do some drawing.
She seems just as happy at school and says the new maitresse is very nice, so I was obviously worried about nothing!
