Zumba has made it to Brittany!

Yes for once France is only a year or so behind the rest of the developed world and is embracing the Zumba Fitness craze! I need to be careful not to generalise about France as these modern things and ideas probably make it to Paris fairly quickly, but when it reaches a small town in Brittany you know it's really made it!
There is a belief (that I still hold sometimes) that France is stuck in the 80's, ok now I think they've moved on slightly but there's no doubt this country can be slow on the uptake.

One example I came across recently was at the hairdressers, when they found out I was English they asked me if I had heard of "stylers", they were really excited about them and had just been to a Show which demonstrated this new hair styling tool and technique and couldn't wait to start using them and selling them in their salon. I asked if they meant GHD's, and they said YES, so you have heard of them! I gently told them they'd been around about 10 years in the UK! So no wonder some Frenchwomen's hairstyles seem so out of date!!

So back to Zumba, last year there was only one class in Lannion and that was only for gym members, I wasn't going to pay full gym membership just to do one class a week. This year thankfully, a dance and aerobics intructor got her Zumba Fitness certificate and is doing 2 classes a week. They filled the 100 places for the class in the first hour of this years Forum des Associations! I was in the right place at the right time and got my name down. I've done 3 classes so far and just love it, its a great calorie burner and just really good fun.
