STOP right there.
I don't know what it's like to have one of my children bitten by another and to have to comfort them and explain the other child didn't mean it. The reason I don't know this is because my child is the one who bites....
It must be awful to have your child bitten by another, but I can promise you, it makes you feel a hundred times worse when your child is the one that bites the others.
I'm writing this now, roughly 15 minutes after such an incident so that I can really account for what it's like.
I want to crawl into a hole, and stay there with my child until he reaches an age where he won't bite any more. I want to avoid all other mothers and children so that no such incident can happen again. I want to keep him as the cuddly sweet baby he is when he's at home with just us, I want everyone to see how sweet he really is.
Because even though your friends, other mothers, teachers, childminders etc tell you it's normal, it's just his age, he's teething, and most children go through this phase. That doesn't make it any better. I don't see these other supposed biters out there going through the same phase, I just see mine.
I wonder if maybe they did crawl into that hole and wait it out!!!!

aww. don't be too hard on yourself. we've never been on the giving end or the receiving end of such an incident but i too hear that it's fairly common. i'm sure he won't be biting people for too long. no holes for you. :-)
As Deenie says, don't be too hard on yourself, it's only a phase. Quite possibly it will be a one-off. All kids do things that make their parents cringe at some time or another. Don't worry - as they get older, it's payback time. The day your child hisses 'Mum, stop it. You're embarrassing me,' is a red letter one!!
I imagine Gnasher had what seemed to him a good reason for doing it at the time. Parental disapproval is a good disincentive.
I used to bite people apparently. I don't remember anything about it, and I definitely don't still do it! So please come out of your hole. :-)
