Friday I was supposed to do all my lists and preparation while Laila was at school, she ended up being ill so stayed at home. But I did manage to get a few ideas written down while she rested. The weekend was very busy for us, we were helping my in-laws move house, and so mum and dad looked after the little ones, I had no chance to work or get stuff ready for the kids.
Monday morning we went and did the food shop for the week, the kids were very well behaved, Laila especially. Max is fine in the trolley until he sees other children being allowed to roam free, then he starts shouting his favourite words of the moment "me as well"!!! I find heading straight for the baguette aisle helps, the girls at the checkout don't even raise an eyebrow when you pass a half eaten baguette through the till! I'm guessing it's very normal!
During Max's nap, Laila brought me the craft book I mentioned in the previous post and said she wanted to "do it". I panicked, as I hadn't had time to order the tissue paper and card stuff online yet. I vaguely remembered seeing something Valentine's related in there, so looked for it and thankfully had exactly what we needed! So we made a woven heart with 2 pieces of fancy card, a craft knife and some scissors!
I had a friend come round in the afternoon for a cup of tea, a friend who does not have children yet and always reminds me of how I was 5 or so years ago! She was great and played with them, patiently waiting to continue our conversation when the children allowed us!
After she left, we did the painting I had promised Laila. It was a valentines craft idea I had in mind, just to paint a big sheet of paper pink or red and then when it dried, we would cut some heart shapes out.
Max had fun painting too, no pictures of this, it's too much hard work managing 2 toddlers and paint, no time to get the camera out!
We finished this one today, I drew the hearts in black felt tip pen and cut them out for Laila and Max to do the sticking. Laila decided she would also draw her own hearts which look very cute!
And for our first holiday baking, we made heart shaped chocolate biscuits, which are delicious, covered in pink icing which is Laila's favourite part!

Maybe I overdid the activities this morning, as I started feeling unwell after lunch and have had to try and take it easy for the rest of the afternoon. Luckily they were happy to do lots of colouring in, this afternoon's choice was Wallace and Gromit, they just love it! I text hubby to come home as early as he could, but he didn't see the message till too late, so when he got back at 6.45pm, I was so relieved to see him! He's full of sympathy, so I'm not mad at him! Laila was really sweet and trying to make me feel better, Max seemed to think jumping up and down on mummy and headbutting me was great fun, sadly his overenthuiasm doesn't make me feel any better!
So fingers crossed I am not coming down with anything, as the timing's rubbish. It means I've missed my opportunity to get some lesson planning done today, it's been a week since I finished work and I've done no new lesson plans yet....

Great post, sounds like you've been very busy enjoying yourselves. Hope you're not coming down with something, mind you isn't it tradition for at least one person to be poorly during half term, I know we are sticking to the tradition our end....boo hoo! Look forward to reading your next post!
Def got off to a good start. (Minus the not feeling well part). It's time for an update on how the rest of the week went. :-)
