Just not poorly enough..

It's not nice when your child is ill, you feel so sorry for them wherever it hurts and wish you could take their pain away.
When a baby has a cold they will just sleep, when a 1yr old is ill, all they want to do is cuddle you or sleep and it's actually quite nice to get those extra cuddles.

The problem with toddlers and little children being ill, namely my 3 3/4 yr old who has tracheitis, is that there is this state of "not poorly enough", where they can't go to nursery or school, especially if they are contagious. BUT they're the ones that run happily around in the Doctors waiting room making the other patients wonder why you are there, and then they turn into complete grumps at home. Complete grumps that do not want to "sleep it off" or "rest", oh no!

My daughter found every single little way to annoy and irritate me today. Ok my patience took a beating early this morning trying to keep control of a 3yr old and an 18 month old for 45 minutes in a Dr's waiting room with no toys, and just 3 tiny books that kept them entertained for less than 3 minutes. Thank goodness really for the abundance of lovely information leaflets about contraception, prostates and bladder problems there were to throw around the room!

It got to the point where I hoped (I shouldn't admit this) that she would actually just lose her croaky voice and then I wouldn't have to hear it anymore!

For now though she's in bed, fast asleep, looking like an angel and when she coughs, it sounds like it hurts and I want to take that pain away from her :-(

oh poor baby, in France you'd have been given a million and one medicines for that! I have to admit the nose spraying and washing works well though. have you tried that? xx
