Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays!

We have a "birthday season" in our family, with my Dad kicking it off in September, followed by me a week later and mum 3 days after me. My brother Garth and my sister-in-law Laura are in the same month too! So an expensive but fun month!

My birthday

Laila is over the moon, she LOVES birthdays and I would even be so bold as to say she is slightly obsessed by them. I think it started around her 2nd birthday, which of course was a big event for her, as for any 2 year old! She still talks about her Peppa Pig cake 9 months on! Since then she has really understood what birthdays entail, i.e. cake, singing and presents.

Laila's 2nd Birthday

She is always singing happy birthday to one of us, bringing us an imaginary cake and present and demanding that we blow out the candles and open our present. She knows how old everyone is or is going to be, much to the distress of my parents, I won't disclose their age here as my mum would throttle me! Just ask Laila if you want to know!!

So we've had a few meals out and cakes and singing etc over the last few weeks. Thanks for all your wishes, cards etc.

This weekend we drove up to Chartres for the weekend for Laila's eldest cousin Killian's birthday. Some of you will remember Killian from our wedding, he was just 3.5 then, but turned 8 years old today. He is Laila's favourite cousin, she just adores him and follows him everywhere. Luckily her feelings are reciprocated and he doesn't mind at all. He likes to learn any English he can from her and teaches her French! Killian got to go to the Stade de France on Saturday night with his cousin Hugo and Uncle and Aunt. The boys were over the moon especially as France won. They are football mad!

So this morning when I take Laila upstairs to get dressed, she chose a pair of peppa pig shorts, her England t-shirt and her "football shoes", to dress like Killian!!

Then to keep with the birthday theme I gave her a new toy we picked up in Ikea on Saturday. A soft birthday cake toy and ice-creams and cookies, all very yummy! Needless to say she is very happy playing with it!
