Back to the grind

Now as if 9 weeks of looking after 2 toddlers AND moving house wasn't work, I now get to go back to my real, paid work! Some people think teachers are lucky getting all the holidays they do, I suddenly sympathise with teachers, knowing the hours and hours of preparation they have to do at home on top of the teaching hours, taking up most of their evenings and weekends. Plus probably a lot of the holidays are used for this too. Or else they should be! I'm once again about to start teaching a full term of classes with very few prepared in advance! I've literally not had any time this summer to do any prep, so I have a good excuse for being unprepared!

For those who don't know, or don't remember what and where I teach. I teach English in a French primary school, Skol Diwan, that's just 3 hours a week. I also teach one-to-one professional English in a large telecoms company, approximately 4.5 hours a week. It doesn't sound like much work, but with all the prep it makes a lot of hours. The advantage is I can fit it in around the kids school and always be there to take them and pick them up from school. The disadvantage is every spare minute I get needs to be used for planning!
However now Max is at school, I should get a few more hours quiet time at home, at least one morning or afternoon a week to do my planning, if I focus I should get it done! At least with this being my 2nd year of teaching now, I have lots of materials and some lessons I can use again.

I didn't actually mean to become an English teacher, but I do like it a lot. It's was certainly the easiest thing to do here using my biggest asset (speaking English)! I do have other ideas in mind for the future, but that will be when or if I ever have more time! I promise to keep you updated...
