The discovery
I left the kids playing with the hammer toy, which involves hammering balls through holes.
There was lots of banging and giggles and I assumed (wrongly) they were playing nicely with the toy together.
The evidence
When Laila appeared in the kitchen and started banging on the wall with the hammer making nice big dents in it, I realised they had found another use for the hammer!
Laila then showed me the Living Room wall with all the dents as well, feeling quite proud of her work.
The interview
Me: Laila what happened here?
Laila: Max did it
Me: Really?
Laila: Yes, Max did it.
The confession
Me: Laila did you do any of it?
Laila: No... I mean...yes mummy.
The punishment
When daddy came home Laila had to show him what she'd done.
She showed him the wall and said look Daddy, Max did it with the hammer.
The Judge's verdict
We actually do believe Suspect No. 2 Maxime Oliver may have started it as there are lots of dents low down on the wall. We think his sister Suspect No.2 quickly realised what fun he was having, took the hammer from him and carried on enthusiastically higher up the wall. When Mummy didn't show up to tell either Suspect off, Suspect No.1 decided to move to the Kitchen to make sure she got caught.
The Lesson to be learned
Never leave 2 kids alone with a hammer. Should have been an obvious one!
